Every Frame a Painting

I love these video essays by Tony Zhou. I previously posted his essay about Martin Scorsese's use of silence. Here are some more of my favourites:

Akira Kurosawa// Composing Movement
Drive// The Quadrant System
Edgar Wright// How to do Visual Comedy

I totally agree with Tony about the majority of comedy films (especially American comedies) being shot in a very uninteresting way and missing a trick by trying to make the audience laugh using dialogue alone unlike Edgar Wright films that also get laughs from composition, sound FX, editing and character movement/ blocking.
